Cast Iron Effect Guttering Installation Guide

One of the most appealing aspects of Plastic Cast Iron Guttering is how easy it is to install. In fact, it is as simple to install as any other PVC Guttering system. The entire project may be divided into two sections: 1) Installing the gutter 2) Installing of the downpipes:

Installing the Gutter:

Begin by laying out all of your pipes in a straight line (this will make installation easier). Then, place a level on the fascia just above the drain and mark its location on the fascia with a pencil. Install the outlet no more than 50 mm below the roof tile level. Place a fascia bracket slightly below the fascia board. Wrap a string (a plumb line) around the bracket's base. Attach the plumb line to the outlet by extending it from the bracket along the fascia board. Check by using a spirit level that there is a slope toward the outflow to encourage effective water drainage. Mark the location of the fascia brackets so that they are no more than 800 mm apart and 150 mm from any angle or stop-end. Install the remaining fascia brackets. Using the "back to front" concept, fit the first length of the gutter beginning at the outlet. Screw a union bracket onto the other end of the first length of the gutter, then attach it to the fascia. Ensure that all joints are aligned with the insertion depth indicated on the fittings. Cut the last portion of the gutter using a hacksaw and install a stop end. And with that, a brand new gutter has been installed. The last step is to install the downpipes, and you’re done!

Installing the Downpipes:

Now that the top gutter has been installed, the next phase will be much easier to set up. Start by drawing a vertical line on the wall between the outlet and the drain. Hold a downpipe clip above the line and use a pencil to mark the mounting holes on the wall. Continue along the wall, leaving no more than 1.8 metres between pipe clips. Drill your installation holes. Install the downpipe by working downward from the top. To allow for expansion, leave a 10 mm space between the end of the pipe and the bottom of the pipe socket. Attach a pipe clip to the joint. Install the pipe clips on the downpipe, and then screw them into the wall. Use a pipe clip to secure the joint. And you're finished! You now have a beautiful new gutter to protect and improve the appearance of your home.
