The Extruda / Urban Core Stainless Steel Locking Clip is a crucial component designed to control the natural expansion and contraction of your composite decking. Installed in the center of each board, it ensures even outward expansion to keep your deck perfectly aligned.
The Extruda / Urban Core Stainless Steel Locking Clip is engineered to manage the natural thermal movement of your composite decking boards as temperatures fluctuate throughout the year. If a composite board is left uncontrolled, it can expand entirely in one direction, leading to uneven gaps or dangerous pressure against walls. To prevent this, exactly one of these locking clips should be installed in the dead center of every single decking board, replacing the standard plastic clip on that specific central joist. This locking clip grips the board tightly, forcing it to expand evenly outward in both directions from the center. This crucial step keeps your entire deck layout perfectly aligned and structurally sound across all seasons.
