Winkhaus Cobra 45mm 2 Hook 20mm Square End Faceplate Multipoint Door lock

The Winkhaus Cobra 45mm 2 Hook 20mm Square End Faceplate Multipoint Door Lock is a premium replacement locking system designed specifically for composite and timber doors, offering reliability, security and long-term performance from one of the most trusted names in door hardware. Manufactured by Winkhaus, this multipoint door lock operates using a euro cylinder and lift lever mechanism, engaging a central latch and deadbolt alongside two additional hooks to provide excellent door compression and security across the full height of the door.

This lock features a 45mm backset measurement with 92mm centres, making it a popular and widely compatible option for modern composite and timber door setups. The lock case is centrally positioned and utilises a split spindle design, allowing independent operation of the internal and external handles, which is ideal for controlled access and everyday convenience. The 20mm square end faceplate delivers a clean and professional finish, while the overall length of 2105mm ensures full coverage for standard door heights.

With two additional hooks spaced at a hook-to-hook measurement of 1490mm, this lock provides strong multi-point engagement, helping to reduce door movement, improve sealing and enhance resistance against forced entry. The top hook sits 735mm from the centre case and the bottom hook is positioned 755mm from the centre, creating balanced locking pressure across the door. As this model is non-extendable, it is important to match measurements accurately when replacing an existing lock.

For long-term performance, regular maintenance is recommended. Periodically lubricating the gearbox and moving components with a light spray such as GT85 will help maintain smooth operation and prevent premature wear. Avoid using heavy grease, as this can attract dirt and reduce efficiency over time.

Whilst upgrading your multipoint door lock, it is also the perfect opportunity to consider replacing other door components for improved security and aesthetics. Pairing this Winkhaus lock with a high security 3 star euro cylinder can significantly enhance protection against snapping, drilling and bumping. Additionally, upgrading your door handles at the same time can transform the overall appearance of your door, creating a clean and coordinated finish while ensuring full compatibility with your new locking mechanism.
